5th Grade Invention Convention - January 26
Posted on 01/10/2019

South Windsor Public Schools is holding an "Invention Convention" on Saturday, January 26th from 9:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. at Timothy Edwards Middle School. All South Windsor 5th graders are creating inventions based on real world problems. At the Invention Convention students will be in small groups presenting their inventions to 2 judges who will be scoring them on originality, the inventing process, effectiveness, practicality, and need.

This project is completed during STEM classes, and inventions are made at home. We are providing 5th graders with this unique opportunity to encourage critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as continue to foster an interest in STEM careers. 5th graders have been studying about character traits of inventors in their humanities unit, and this ties in nicely with our work in STEM.

Some honored inventors will be selected to showcase their invention at the State Finals this spring.
